I'm a Professor of Music Education at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Me and my team widely conduct research and teaching in music education, music psychology, and music therapy. My research interests include music as emotion regulation, emotional development, interaction and wellbeing. I currently act as a PI for an ERC-funded project MUSICONNECT - Music as youth empowerment: creating connection to self and others. I also act as a Co-PI for a Centre of Excellence in Music, Mind, Body & Brain.  I'm the Chairman of the Finnish Society for Music Education (FiSME), Vice-President of the European Society for the Cognitive Sciences of Music (ESCOM), and the European Commissioner for the ISME Research Commission.
