Mariane Generale is a doctoral candidate in Music Education/Interdisciplinary Studies at McGill University. She completed a Bachelor's of Music in classical piano and music technology, a Master's of Music in sound recording, and a non-degree program in psychology, all at McGill University. She has done audio perception studies, worked in 3D audio, and was a recording and mixing engineer at the Banff Centre and McGill. Mariane has been the recipient of multiple scholarships including the John Eargle award and the SSHRC and FRQ-SC doctoral fellowships. Her doctoral research concerns music, health, and well-being - specifically examining the use of music for emotion regulation in adulthood and its impact on mental health - and is also interested in music learning, community music, and music for older adults. In addition to her studies, Mariane is an active musician and conductor, and serves as the co-director for the Montreal New Horizons Band. She is a student research coordinator for the Creative Later Life project - a pan-Canadian, SSHRC-funded project examining creative music technology use among older adults, led by Dr. Andrea Creech. She also remains an active student member at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music, Media, and Technology (CIRMMT).
