Dr. Katy Ieong Cheng Ho Weatherly is an accomplished musician and educator with a rich academic journey. She attained her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Music from The Juilliard School, following which she achieved a Master’s and Doctorate in Music Education from Teachers College, Columbia University.
Dr. Weatherly's musical prowess has garnered both national and international recognition. She has graced the stages of esteemed venues worldwide, including Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, David Geffen Hall, and The Juilliard School. Her performances have resonated across concert halls in the United States, China, Germany, Austria, France, and Denmark. She has honed her craft through participation in renowned events like the Heifetz International Summer Institute, Round Top Festival, Orford Music Festival, North American Viola Institute, National Music Festival, and Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany. Furthermore, she has contributed her talents to gatherings such as The Juilliard ChamberFest and the American Conservatory of Fontainebleau.
Dr. Weatherly is equally dedicated to music education advocacy. She has been an honor recipient of The Juilliard Morse Teaching Artist Fellowships, the Juilliard Summer Grant, Columbia University Teachers College Provost Grant, Macao Government Scholarship, Asian Cultural Council Grant, and University of Macau research grant.
Past roles have seen Dr. Weatherly serve as a District Music and Performing Arts Manager in Washington D.C., Education Director at the International Chamber Orchestra Young Artists Program, strings faculty member and research assistant at Teachers College, Wolf Trap Performing Arts Grant panelist, and a co-chair of the assessment team at the DC Arts and Humanities Education Collaborative. Her contributions were acknowledged when she was named one of the distinguished honorees at the 2022 Washington Performing Arts Gala.
Presently, Dr. Weatherly holds the position of Assistant Professor of Music and Music Education at the University of Macau, her birthplace and upbringing. In this capacity, she continues to inspire and impart her wealth of knowledge to the next generation of musicians and educators.
