Robert Gillmer is a multifaceted performing artist and vocal stylist with a master’s degree in Performance, specialising in Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM). Currently serving as the CCM and Jazz lecturer at Nelson Mandela University, he also holds the prestigious position of Choir Director for the Nelson Mandela University Choir.

With a rich background in the contemporary music industry, Robert brings a wealth of experience to both his academic and performance endeavours. His expertise extends to vocal pedagogy, music technology, contemporary commercial singing, and the role of music in higher education.

He is an esteemed author, having published articles in international journals, and his research interests reflect a deep passion for advancing the understanding of vocal techniques, modern music trends, and the integration of technology in music education.

Robert is an active member of several esteemed organisations, including the International Society for Music Education (ISME), the Pan African Society for Musical Arts Education (PASMAE), the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), and the South African Society of Music Teachers (SASMT).
